![]() Location of the study area, Khumbu Himal - Part 6 ![]() ![]() Similarities and differences with the Alps Find major similarities and major differences between this Himalayan landscape and its land cover, and a typical Alpine landscape, for example the Matterhorn-Zermatt area in Switzerland. See the image below. You can download all bands of the image acquired on 10 September 1990 in glacier_worksheet1.zip. The pixel size is 30 m. Produce at least a 321 and a 432 band combination. To improve the image, use: Enhance> Histogram Equalization or Enhance>Interactive Stretching.
1. Observe the land cover similarities and differences in both images (432 band combination Himalaya versus Alps).
2. Compare the glaciers in both images, and describe the differences. 3. What is the length of the longest glacier in both the Himalayas and Alps images? Pixel size of the Alps_Zermatt images is 30 m (Image > Pixel Size, and input the numbers). 4. Observe and describe the settlements and the visible infrastructure of both images. 5.
