12 May 2003

The European Commission, in collaboration with the Greek Presidency, is organising a high level conference on eHealth on the 22nd and 23rd May 2003 in Brussels.

This event will include a two-day exhibition of 30 eHealth applications and an award ceremony for the first eEurope Awards: eEurope Awards in eHealth.

The conference is aimed at ministers and senior representatives of stakeholder groups such as professional and user organisations in eHealth, while developers along with current users of eHealth applications will participate in the exhibition. The first “eEurope Awards in eHealth” will be attributed to the selected demonstrations of the conference.

Objectives

The first objective of the Conference is to provide Health Ministers and the public sector in general with information on which key implementation decisions on eHealth may be made.

A further objective is to reinforce the implementation and deployment of eHealth systems by European health service providers. The primary tool is the use of carefully selected demonstrations of currently working tools and applications. These will be presented at the conference and at the exhibition in real-time demonstrations.

Members of the TM Alliance will be present at the conference.
