Sweden

The Swedish NPOC has adopted the name Svenska ECSL- Gruppen (SEG) and has, so far, operated as an informal association, without formal membership. Seeing that other NPOCs have incorporated structures and formal charters, the Swedish NPOC is at present considering a more formal structure.

The Swedish NPOC works in close cooperation with the Swedish Institute for Research in International Law (SIRIL) in Stockholm and with the Spacelex Institute in Burgundy, both founded and headed by Professor Detter de Lupis Frankopan. The contact group has not yet published documents or reports. The group has sought to encourage the teaching of space law in Swedish Universities.

The Swedish NPOC is organising in May 1995 a Workshop on 'Space and the Environment' in cooperation with SIRIL and Spacelex, which representatives of European and international organisations will be invited to attend.

The Swedish NPOC hopes to expand its activities soon. Considering Sweden's interest in space matters, it is envisaged that these activities will involve Swedish authorities, industry as well as scholars.
