Would you like to see your own space artwork on the ESA Kids site? Here's your chance! Every month ESA Kids is looking at a different theme in more detail. Themes include everything from orbits and planets to astronauts and asteroids.

There are many moons in the Solar System. A moon is a natural object that orbits a planet or a smaller body, for example an asteroid. Some planets have no moons, such as Mercury and Venus. Some have one or two moons, like the Earth and Mars. And some have lots of moons, like Jupiter and Saturn.

Our moon is the only one we can see from Earth without a telescope. It is very bright and big because it is so close to us. Other moons in our solar system are very different from ours. Some are bigger, some are smaller, some are rocky, some are icy, some are smooth, some are cratered, some have volcanoes, some have geysers and some even have atmospheres.
