ESA's Diane tracking station sits just a stone's throw from Europe's Spaceport, in Kourou, French Guiana. Just 19km away from where satellites are thrust into space, this 15-metre antenna is ready to catch their first signals.
The Diane station is part of ESA's global Estrack network, which is constantly receiving signals from spacecraft near and far, as well as passing on commands to these intrepid explorers from operators on Earth.
