Using a robot arm like your own

Depending on their academic background and experience, staff may be employed in one of the following engineering disciplines: research and development/project support, project engineering, operations, data exploitation and systems engineering.

ESA employs engineering staff with degrees in the following academic disciplines:

  • aerospace engineering;
  • physics;
  • communications engineering;
  • electrical engineering;
  • mathematics;
  • mechanical engineering;
  • product assurance engineering;
  • software engineering; and
  • systems engineering.

After obtaining initial experience of working at ESA, there are a number of different career possibilities open to engineers. Some may prefer to move to the management or management-support side. Others may be more attracted to a more specialised technical expertise or want to branch out into broader systems-related work.
