ESA Open Day in the Netherlands – in pictures
ESA Open Day will take place on Sunday 7 October at ESTEC, showcasing the activities of Europe’s space agency to visitors from all across the continent.
Although the ESA Open Day is held in ESTEC, it is very much celebration of all parts of ESA. Areas of the ESTEC campus will be set aside for different ESA establishments to present themselves.
The event takes place as part of World Space Week and the Dutch Weekend van de Wetenschap (Science Weekend).
The Open Day typically attracts upwards of 8000 visitors per year – but to keep everyone safe and happy we need to limit the numbers so don’t forget to register.
Last year’s Open Day featured a host of different activities and exhibits. They included hands-on simulations of spacecraft navigation, displays of plant fluorescence to be detected by the future FLEX mission, a map-based Earth-observing game for kids, a VR-based Galileo search and rescue demonstration, Lego robots for children to control and an EDRS-themed treasure hunt – plus all the traditional lectures and astronaut autograph signings.
