An idea proposed and selected through ESA's Open Space Innovation Platform (OSIP) would explore using the properties of gold to split water into oxygen and hydrogen. The idea was proposed under the Campaign 'Towards a Sustainable Hydrogen Production Technology', which sought ideas for more environmentally, economically and socially sustainable ways to produce energy.
