Mission analysis and flight dynamics

University University of Strathclyde, UK
Responsibilities Definition, design and optimization of the trajectory to the Moon and of the lunar orbit

The project

It is the role of Mission Analysis (MIAS) team to define, design and optimise the transfer from the point when the spacecraft is launched, to the point at which is decommissioned. The MIAS team is also responsible for orbit analysis, launch window definition, eclipse analysis, and ground station visibility for communications windows. The flight dynamics team is responsible for higher fidelity (more accurate) transfer and orbit analysis and design (based on the work of the MIAS team), manoeuvre definition, planning and scheduling, orbit determination, navigation, and emergency recovery options.

The sponsors

The Mission analysis and flight dynamics team is sponsored by the University of Strathclyde.
