For the last decade, the ESA deep-space antenna in Malargüe has connected the small Argentinian city to the furthest reaches of the Solar System.

Malargüe station has provided essential support to ESA missions exploring Mercury, Venus and Mars, carrying out humankind’s first-ever landing on a comet, and delivering important scientific data from world-leading space observatories such as Gaia and Planck.

To celebrate 10 years of ESA activities at Malargüe station, the Municipality of Malargüe and ESA are inviting the local population to sign up and take part in an inspirational programme of science and engineering.

The event includes visits to the permanent exhibition on ESA’s Rosetta mission at the local Malargüe planetarium and different art and science competitions for local schools, who can participate to win prizes and have their work displayed in the city.

If you would like to sign up for the Open Week, please register at a Malargüe Municipality Management Centre. Registration will open on 1 November 2022. Registration covers all activities at both the Planetarium and at the ESA Station.
