Development and qualification of new technology requires an understanding of the process through experimentation, modelling and material characterization. In this contract Norsk Titanium addressed activity domains that were believed to be important to achieve qualification for space applications.

BENEFITS:

•Cost-competitiveness, reduced lead times and increased design of freedom.•So far, the RPD™ process has been focusing of Titanium parts; however, the process capability can be expanded to other metals, such as high temperature Nickel based alloys.•During this contract, the maturity of RPD™ technology has progressed, and Norsk Titanium is now a manufacturer of flying structural parts for commercial aerospace (https://www.norsktitanium.com/). Through the technology progress and manufacturing of demonstrator parts within this contract, the technology has also demonstrated its potential for space applications.
