Modern satellite navigation means the only place left to get lost is indoors, where navigation signals do not reach. But French company Insiteo, an alumnus of ESA’s Noordwijk Business Incubation Centre, seamlessly extends navigation services to large indoor sites with indoor transmitters simulating GPS signals. Its system has been installed at sites including Expo Porte de Versailles in Paris – with 220 000 sq m of indoor exhibition space including eight large halls, 32 meeting rooms and several auditoriums – and La Maquinista, a mall in Barcelona with some 230 shops.
