The Institute of Air and Space Law of the University of Lapland serves as the Finnish NPOC. Director of the Institute is Dr. Lotta Viikari, who also serves as Professor of Public International Law at the University of Lapland.

The IASL of the University of Lapland was founded in 1997. It is the northernmost institute of its kind globally. The primary objective of the Institute is to promote research and teaching within the field of air and space law, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
