Ariane 4 - Flight 137
Ariane 4 - Flight 137
Flight 137 further delayed

12 December 2000
Flight 137, originally scheduled for the night of 8/9 December, has been further delayed. The Ariane-4 launcher was due to place Alcatel Space's Eurasiasat communications satellite into geostationary transfer orbit for Turkey. However, the company, which is the prime contractor for Flight 137’s Euriasiasat 1 payload, has requested additional inspections of the launch vehicle’s payload fairing. These are now being carried out at the Ariane-4 launch site in Kourou, French Guiana.

Once the results of the satellite verification are known, a new date for the mission will be decided upon. Ariane-4 continues to hold one of the best reliability records in the market for commercial launches. The previous flight, number 136, marked Arianespace’s 59th successful Ariane-4 launch in a row.
