Transfer of space technologies: New opportunities of business on the Web

In the framework of the very fast evolution of technology, involving new business schemes based on the rules of the new economy, the European Space Agency and the European Commission have launched a project aimed at offering a wide range of consultancy services to enterprises, allowing them to fully exploit the new technologies.
This initiative has led to the creation of a spin-off company that will run a portal for consultancy on the web to enterprises. This industry portal will make available to Small-to-Medium-size Enterprises (SMEs) the technical and financial knowledge necessary for them to exploit technologies in their specific business sector.
The aim of the workshop, which will take place at ESA/ESRIN in Frascati, Rome on 1 December, is to introduce space and non-space enterprises to the new opportunities offered by the organizations working in the technology transfer field and to give an overview of the possible future scenario, including the role of start-up companies.
The second part of the event will be dedicated to a number of programmed meetings between offering enterprises and those searching for new technological solutions; some successful technology transfer stories will be illustrated.
