Winning racer backed by space technology ![]() Pescarolo Sport has used several space technologies to improve their racing cars this year. Performance to weight ratio is vital in racing and high-tech carbon composite materials, used to build satellites, were used in the construction of the sports car. To improve safety, thermal shields similar to those used on Europe’s Ariane launchers were placed between the engine and the flexible fuel tank to protect it from engine fire hazards. The same material was also used to insulate the manifold and turbo. ![]() Here Henri Pescarolo is seen on the winners podium in Nogaro with his two drivers Franck Lagorce and Soheil Ayari, Sunday 21 September 2003. The two Pescarolo drivers had to fight an intense duel against the Racing for Holland team in their Dome-Judd racecar, but finally the Dutch team could not keep the fast pace and had to give in. With a first position at Estoril, Portugal, a second place in Spa, Belgium, and victory in Nogaro, Pescarolo Sport takes the second position after Racing for Holland in the FIA Sportscar Championship, 2003 ![]() Thermal shields from the European launcher Ariane protect engine against fire ![]() Pescarolo Sport is here fuelling at Nogaro race track, France ![]() Henri Pescarolo is here seen at the Nogaro race track, France ![]() Battle for the lead in the last 30 minutes, Sarrazin from Pescarolo Sport leads Shimoda from RN Motorsports, at the Estoril race track in Portugal, 13 April 2003 Release date: 16 January 2007 |
