ESA at MAKS 2009

20 August 2009
ESA joins other major space and aviation players at the 9th International Aviation and Space Salon, MAKS 2009, at the Zhukovsky Air Base near Moscow this week.

Yesterday, at the ESA chalet, ESA Director General J.-J. Dordain and Head of Roscosmos A. Perminov signed the Implementing Arrangement between the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) and the European Space Agency on Activities in Support of Certain Space Exploration Programmes. This includes using the European ground network during the Russian Phobos Grunt sample return mission, to be launched in October 2009, and cooperation on the ExoMars project.

Mr Dordain has also visited the exhibition area of the Rocket and Space Corporation ‘Energia’ and met with the company’s President and Chief Designer Vitali Lopota.
