The vast and widely varied landscape of northern Sweden, just below the Arctic Circle, is shown in this SPOT-4 image, acquired on 9 May 2006. This area is commonly referred to as Lapland, which constitutes the western parts of Norrbotten (upper right) and Västerbotten (lower right) counties.

SPOT-4 is supported by ESA as a 'Third Party Mission', which means ESA utilises its multi-mission European ground infrastructure and expertise to acquire, process and distribute data from the satellite to its wide user community.
