MERIS/AATSR Workshop looks at twin sensors with many uses   The seasons of the year as seen by MERIS across Europe and Africa during 2003. Atmosphere     AATSR imagery is used to detect aircraft contrails over Europe and the North Atlantic as part of ESA's Contrails project, with MERIS images being used for validation. Land     The fraction of incoming solar radiation useful for photosynthesis that is actually absorbed by vegetation – a value known as the Fraction of Absorbed Photosynthetically Active Radiation (FAPAR) – measured for the month March 2005, against a base period of measurements from 1998 to 2002.
