ISS Business

The Co-operation Agreement

Europe

ESA has entered into this agreement in 2002 with a number of industries in order to provide payload development support, and a few non-space entities in order to provide ancillary services (e.g. IPR legal advice, insurance cover) to the ISS commercial users. The last entity to join the agreement was the insurance company Marsh SA in May 2007.

The Partners of the Co-operation Agreement perform two types of activities:

  • 'General promotion activities', aimed at heightening the public awareness of the ISS and of the inherent benefits of the ISS in particular as a microgravity R&D laboratory.

  • 'Promotion support activities', provide a range of ground-based facilities, resources and services under discount conditions, to help customers realising their project.
