ESRIN is in Frascati, south of Rome, Italy. It manages the ground segment for ESA and third-party Earth-observation satellites, coordinating over 20 ground stations and ground-segment facilities throughout Europe and cooperating with another 20 foreign ground-segment operators worldwide.
ESA/ASI joint event for Vega launch - watch the replay
14 February 2012 A joint ESA-ASI event was held at ESA/ESRIN to watch Vega's qualification flight on 13 February. The first Vega lifted off at 11:00 CET from the new launch pad at Europe's Spaceport, and conducted a flawless qualification flight.
18 July 2011 Oceans cover much of our planet and they are difficult to keep under surveillance, with the trafficking of people, unlicensed fishing and piracy adding to the problem. Satellites, however, can help keep the seas safe.
