Inauguration of site of Galileo station at Kourou
 
20 November 2009   ESA PR 29-2009. The site of a ground station for Galileo, Europe's global navigation satellite system, inside the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), near Kourou in French Guiana, was inaugurated on 19 November.

Galileo science colloquium
 
6 November 2009   More than 150 scientists from 21 countries attended a colloquium on the fundamental aspects and scientific applications of the Galileo satellite navigation system, held at the University of Padua on 14–16 October.

EGNOS press conference: Antonio Tajani
EGNOS ‘Open Service’ available: a new era for European navigation begins today
 
1 October 2009   During a press conference today, Mr Antonio Tajani, European Commission Vice-President for Transport Policy, announced the official start of operations for EGNOS, the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service. The EGNOS ‘Open Service’ is now available.
