1992: On 5 November 1992, Jan Hendrik Oort died.

Oort was a Dutch physicist and astronomer, one of the most important figures in 20th-century efforts to understand the nature of the Milky Way galaxy. He measured the rotation of the galaxy and hypothesized a cloud of comets surrounding the system - now called the 'Oort Cloud.'
