Re entry of ATV Jules Verne

The Jules Verne space cargo is due for re entry on 29 September above the South Pacific Ocean. This will be the last part of a unique mission for Europe, achieving several premieres. Launched by Ariane on 9 March the Automated Transfer Vehicle was docked to the International Space Station for more than 5 months.
This Video News release recalls the different stages of the ATV mission and explains what will be the re entry phase with new graphics.

Europeís space freighter will have opened a new chapter in the history of the International Space Station. After 155 days attached to the ISS, the ATV now begins its final voyage, burning up in the atmosphere after having achieved many firsts.

Launched from Kourou on 9 March, the spaceship named Jules Verne started with an anti-collision demonstration of its safe and precise rendezvous, piloting and navigation systems.

It then climbed towards the Space Station and after two trial approaches, it automatically and gracefully latched on to the ISS docking port on 3 April. Neither the astronauts onboard the station nor the mission control teams in Toulouse had to intervene.
