ESA TV Exchanges
As part of ESAs Living Planet programme, the Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE) will be the first of a series of Earth Explorer satellites in orbit, designed to provide information for understanding critical Earth system variables. Addressing the challenges of global change, Europe is launching the GOCE satellite to map our planets gravity field in unprecedented detail.

GOCE VNR
Gravity is the force that literally keeps our feet on the ground. Whether weíre walking, sitting, playing or flying itís gravity that holds us in place. Although itís invisible, gravity provides us with a sense of the horizontal and vertical. Most of us take the Earthís constant pull ofgravity for granted. To help us better understand this vital phenomenon ESA is launching a satellite solely dedicated to measuring gravity
GOCE stands for Gravity Field and Steady ñState Ocean Circulation Explorer
This satellite, is the first of six ESA scientific missions to study the earth from space. These missions, known as the Earth Explorer missions, will help us better understand the earth and predict climate change in the future. They will also put Europe in pole position on Eart
