Space Council highlights exploitation of European space systems

25 November 2010
Ministers of the Council of the European Union and of the ESA Council at Ministerial level are meeting for the seventh Space Council in Brussels, Belgium on 25 November, under the theme of ‘Global challenges: taking full benefit of European space systems’.

The meeting is chaired by the Belgian EU Presidency and the Italian ESA Presidency, under the theme of ‘Global challenges: taking full benefit of European space systems’.

An important arena to ensure a coherent approach to space policy and programmes in Europe, the Space Council has been held every year since 2004. This year’s theme reflects the important synergies that can be created to benefit Europe’s citizens when placing the technical expertise provided by ESA at the service of a range of EU policies.

After the meeting, a press briefing will be held at 18:00 with the participation of ESA’s Director General Jean-Jacques Dordain. The briefing will be webstreamed.
