The inauguration of the new ‘Fragility and Beauty – taking the pulse of our planet from space’ exhibition was opened on 15 May 2019 at the National Museum of Science and Technologyin Milan Italy. Using images from satellites observing Earth from space, the exhibition shows the rapid growth of the world’s population and the impact of overpopulation on ecosystems, both in terms of the exploitation of natural resources and emissions of greenhouse gases. It also highlights how satellite data can help achieve some of the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations.
