Ocean Features - Stavanger Image description
ERS-1 SAR image west of Stavanger acquired 3rd October 1992. The mainland is to the right. In situations with little wind many different features appear on the ocean surface.
In this case they can be explained by current shear (linear elements) and by very light winds (black areas). In shallow sea, currents are alterated by the bottom topography.
This can be seen on the surface by linear features and internal waves.
