The video shows the view af a camera placed on a robot tool. The camera is imaging a hand rail. Many of these handrail are placed on the ouside surface of the International Space Station to allow astronauts to climb everywhere. The image shows also two overlays: green lines show shape of the handrail as recognised by VIMANCO; blue lines show the desired position of the handrail with respect to the robot tool. In the video the robot moves to have the handrail in the desired position. The motion is successful despite the visual occlusion created first by a human hand an than by a dark object. The video also shows the great ability of VIMANCO to deal with sharp changes of illumination. Both occlusions (created by very dark shadows) and sharp changes of illumination happen often in space.
