The robotic ARTIS device is controlled remotely by an expert radiologist in real time. Guided by the ultrasound images being relayed back to them the radiologist steers a joystick to move the robotic system attached to the ultrasound device. If necessary they can give audio commands to the assistant holding the ARTIS device as well, as well as viewing them on a webcam.
