The SEOSAT-Ingenio mission is based on a state-of-the-art dual camera that can image Earth’s land surface with a resolution of 2.5 m. It will capture images in the panchromatic band, meaning black and white, as well as in four multi-spectral bands: red, blue, green and near-infrared, at a resolution of 10 m. A process called pansharpening can be used on SEOSAT-Ingenio’s data, where the 2.5 m resolution panchromatic and 10 m resolution multispectral data are merged to create high-resolution (2.5 m) colour images. The image here, which shows Madrid in Spain, is from the Pleiades mission and has been resampled to match the resolution of SEOSAT-Ingenio.
