Much of the crucial information in engineering documents is still text-based. This can lead to inconsistencies between sources and inaccuracies. With funding from the Discovery element of ESA's Basic Activities, a team from Thales Alenia Space is studying how artificial intelligence – particularly natural language processing – can help space engineers save time and money by more efficiently navigating important technical documents and reusing previously acquired knowledge. The project is based on an idea submitted by Thales Alenia Space through the Open Space Innovation Platform (OSIP).
