Pedro Russo, University Professor Astronomy & Society, Leiden University, The Netherlands, and member of the board of Directors of Ciência Viva, Lisbon, Portugal, presented few projects where astronomy met art: from projecting a rainbow on the façade of Amsterdam train station using the most advanced telescopes, to creating lenses from the sand in the Atacama desert that could be used to photograph the night sky. Most of these projects were the result of a collaboration between artists in residence in the Netherlands and scientists from Leiden Observatory.
