The solar wind is a fast and constant stream of charged particles released from the upper atmosphere of the Sun – the corona. This wind consists of various particles and elements, including electrons, protons and alpha particles – consisting of two protons and two neutrons – as well as tiny amounts of more complex atomic nuclei such as carbon, oxygen and magnesium
