Christian Klösch, from Vienna Technical Museum, presented ‘This is (not) rocket science! Citizen science as mission control’, a research project funded by the Austrian Ministry of Education. The Vienna Technical Museum is offering a platform to investigate important topics - such as ‘Women in Space’, ‘NewSpace’, ‘Space Debris’ and ‘Moon Village’ - together with young scientists between the ages of 4 and 18.
In this project, the museum is working with children from the ‘Bildungsgrätzel Schönbrunn’ and with space professionals such as the space architect group ‘Liquifer’, the ‘TU Wien Space Team’, ESERO Austria and the scientist Ellie Armstrong from Stockholm University. The aim of the project is to build a ‘mission control’ team made up of students as an advisory board for the museum. At the end of the project, any newly created objects, films or graphics will be added to the room exhibition in the museum.
