THE EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY
Since 1975 the European Space Agency, ESA, has been pooling the resources of its Member States and leading cooperation with other nations to build a European space capability, undertaking programmes and activities far beyond the scope of any single European country. ESA develops the space infrastructure needed to keep Europe at the forefront of global activities and plays a critical role in building a strong and competitive local industry.
ESA develops launchers, ground facilities and the technology to send satellites into space for Earth observation, navigation, telecommunications, and astronomy, sending probes to the far reaches of the Solar System, as well as cooperating in the human exploration of space and creating practical applications for space on Earth.

DEN EUROPÆISKE RUMORGANISATION
Siden 1975 har den Europæiske Rumorganisation, ESA, samlet resurserne from dens medlemslande og ledet samarbejdet med andre lande for at bygge en europæisk rumkapacitet og udføre programmer og aktiviteter, der langt overstiger omfanget af enhver enkelt europæisk nation. ESA udvikler den rummæssige infrastruktur, der er nødvendig for at bevare Europas førende position i globale aktiviteter og spiller en afgørende rolle i opbygningen af en stærk og konkurrencedygtig lokal industri. ESA udvikler raketter, jordbaseret faciliteter og teknologi til at sende satellitter i rummet til jordobservation, navigation, telekommunikation og astronomi samt til at sende sonder ud til Solens fjerneste områder og samarbejder desuden om den menneskelige udforskning af rummet og skaber praktiske anvendelser for rummet på Jorden.
