Luxtelligence (Switzerland), a supplier to ESA, received ESA’s Innovation Award on 20 September 2025 at the Space Tech Expo Europe trade fair in Bremen, Germany. This was awarded to the company based on its high level of innovation in up to five projects developed in the domain of photonics.
Luxtelligence specialises in manufacturing thin-film lithium niobate and lithium tantalate optoelectronic chips. Pictured is a next-generation high-speed, energy-efficient, and cost-effective optical transceiver wafer which makes use of advanced optical modulators and integrated photonics. The speed of these chips surpass their silicon counterparts by four times and offer opportunities towards terabits per second data rates in optical communication systems.
