Seen from the tip of one of the European-built solar array wings, Orion's European Service Module is highlighted in this image, with its main engine, auxiliary thrusters and two solar arrays visible during the spacecraft's lunar flyby on flight day 7 of the Artemis II mission.
This unique vantage point showcases the engineering that propels and powers Orion as it journeys around the Moon.
Throughout the mission, European engineers from ESA and prime contractor Airbus monitor the module's performance from mission control centres on both sides of the Atlantic, working in close coordination with NASA to ensure Orion carries its crew around the Moon and safely back home.
