LUNA is Europe’s cutting-edge space research facility bringing the Moon to Earth. Located next to ESA’s European Astronaut Centre in Cologne, Germany, this unique 700 m² hall simulates the lunar surface, preparing astronauts, scientists, engineers, and mission experts for life and work on the Moon.  

Jointly operated by ESA and the German Aerospace Agency (DLR), LUNA is more than a state‑of‑the‑art space research facility. As an open hub for international space agencies, researchers, and innovators, LUNA is helping shape the future of lunar missions, providing an exciting glimpse into what life and work on the lunar surface might look like in the not-too-distant future.
