ATMOS Phoenix 2 and Phoenix 3 to scale

Engineers from the European Space Agency (ESA) and industry partners have completed an intensive concept study for Phoenix 3, a reusable spacecraft designed to fly experiments in microgravity and return them safely to Earth. The design is proposed by the European startup ATMOS Space Cargo.  

Phoenix 3 and its predecessor Phoenix 2 are shown here in a reentry configuration with their inflatable atmospheric decelerators (IAD) deployed and a human figure for reference. Dimensions shown here are indicative of the concept assessed during the CDF study and do not represent a final design.
