EVA-96: Success!

Day 179 orbit 2774 — Yoohoo! EVA-96 was completed successfully by Jessica and Anil! These photos pretty much capture how happy I was to see them back... although you can also spot a few signs of fatigue, because it had been a veeeery long day. Thanks Anna for the photos!

Jack and I were tasked to help for the preparation: making sure intravehicular operations ran smoothly and safely. While the spacewalkers are the ones out in the spotlight, EVAs are very much a team effort, and it's always a privilege to support the crew from within.

That being said, I’ve got exciting news to share: this August 18, it will be my turn to head outside the Station, alongside Anil, in order to replace a Space-to-Ground Antenna, or SGANT. This piece of equipment is crucial for transmitting data and high‑speed communication between Mission Control Center in Houston and the Station.
So, one EVA complete for August, two more to prepare!

Jour 179, orbite 2774 – Youhou ! Mission accomplie pour Jessica et Anil, l’EVA-96 est un succès ! Merci Anna pour ces photos qui montrent bien à quel point j’étais heureuse de les voir de retour à bord ! Elles révèlent également quelques cernes et marques de fatigue, c’était une looooongue journée.

Jack et moi étions chargés de veiller au bon déroulement et à la sécurité des opérations à l’intérieur de la Station. Même si tous les regards sont braqués sur les astronautes en sortie extravéhiculaire, une EVA est avant tout un travail d’équipe, et je me sens toujours privilégiée de pouvoir apporter un soutien de l’intérieur à mes coéquipiers qui sont de sortie.

Ceci dit, accrochez-vous, j’ai une super nouvelle à partager : le 18 août prochain, ce sera à mon tour de sortir de la Station aux côtés d’Anil pour remplacer une antenne Space-to-Ground, ou SGANT. Cet équipement joue un rôle essentiel dans les communications à haut débit et la transmission de données entre le Centre de contrôle de mission à Houston et la Station spatiale internationale.

Cela fait donc une EVA de terminée, mais il y en a encore deux à préparer ce mois-ci !
