Carrying a suite of state-of-the-art instruments, Sentinel-3 is arguably the most comprehensive of all the Sentinel missions for Europe’s Copernicus programme. It provides systematic measurements of Earth’s oceans, land, ice and atmosphere to monitor and understand large-scale global dynamics. 

Delivering critical data on the height and temperature of the sea surface, it supports ocean forecasting for maritime safety. Over land, this innovative mission provides a bigger picture by monitoring wildfires, mapping the way land is used, provides indices of vegetation state and measures the height of rivers and lakes.
