Galileo satellite navigation constellation

Galileo is Europe’s independent satellite navigation system, with over 30 satellites orbiting more than 20 000 km above Earth, supported by a worldwide ground segment. Galileo operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing the backbone of modern life.  

ESA designs and develops Galileo under the EU Space programme for the European Commission. The EU Agency for the Space programme oversees Galileo’s services and operation.
