Aggregates of cyanobacteria held in acoustic levitation planes within a fluid-filled chamber during a parabolic flight campaign, as part of the 'Acoustic Levitation for Life Support Systems (ALLISS)' activity supported by ESA Discovery. The ultrasound organises the cyanobacteria into thin, evenly spaced layers that act as optical windows, allowing light to penetrate deeper into the culture and improving photosynthesis efficiency.
