    • Description

This video, created in 2002, describes the procedures taken to recover Artemis, the Advanced Relay and TEchnology MISsion. Ion propulsion engines were used to raise the orbit of the satellite after it was placed in a lower orbit in July 2001. This was the first time any satellite had used ion thrusters to power its way to geostationary orbit, which it eventually reached at 36 000 km above the Earth.
