- Description
The Applications of satellite technology are multiple, and ESA's New Media Support Centre (NMSC) helps the development of new services, applications and equipment through a novel test and development environment. Its main feature is that it combines the traditional disciplines of telecommunications (multimedia, mobile or broadcast) with those of navigation and earth observation.
Potential users of satellites are often unaware of possible applications or unable to develop them. Also, small- and medium sized companies might have this expertise but lack the financial means to access advanced tools or simulations for their developments. The New Media Support Centre has been created to bridge this gap and enable both small and big firms to access the most advanced satellite technology.
ESA's ambition for the NMSC is to support many different users, who will help the satellite market to develop and satellite technology entering more and more in the everyday life of Europe's citizens.
