      On 19 April 2004 at 03:19 GMT, ESA astronaut Andr? Kuipers departed for the International Space Station (ISS). In his luggage, Kuipers carried 15 scientific experiments, most of them Dutch.

      Europe had it's all new Matroshka experiment hitch a ride towards the ISS on January's Progress. The inside of the Matroshka facility has the shape of a human head and torso,it is called 'the Phantom'. The outside container simulates the effect of a spacesuit.

      For some time to come, the unmanned Russian Progress vehicles are the only means to transport cargo to the International Space Station, as the American Shuttles haven't returned to flight yet.
