The next launch of an Ariane 5 is scheduled for the night of 12-13 July 2004, carrying the Canadian telecommunication satellite, Anik F2 into orbit. Today, there are fewer Ariana lanuches than three or six years ago, and this pre-event programme, looks at the underlying reasons. It includes and interview with ESA's director of Launchers, Antonio Fabrizi, recorded on 5 July 2004.
At the same time, the objectives of the coming missions are outlined, including the raise in the payload capability to ten tones.
The program includes an A-roll of 5 minutes (split audio-English voiceover) and a B-roll of 8 minutes with clean international sound.
