Galileo : time & space (Quantum)
      ESA TV Exchanges
With the recent launch of the Giove-B satellite, Europe is today demonstrating its mastery in broadcasting time signals of unprecedented accuracy. The Galileo constellation will be the world's most reliable global navigation system. The technologies which have been developed to achieve such a precision will also provide data for use in many other fields, such as oceanography and meteorology, for example, and in fundamental sciences, where scientists are now re- evaluating certain theories such as gravitation. This A & B-Roll covers these side-benefits of the Galileo system

10:00:40 The notion of time is paramount in physics, as in everyday life. The accuracy of its measurement is often fundamental on a practical basis ñ to get somewhere ëon timeí - and in our understanding of the Universe.
10:00:56 Time and space, more precisely ones location in space, are inextricably linked as Einstein demonstrated in his theory of relativity. From their relationship are derived all other physical quantities such as energy, mass, momentum or force...

""When you want to measure motion, motion of a particle, motion of a satellite or even an aircraft, if you have very precise information on time it can always be translated to velocities, positions and so on. So finally position information will be linked to precise timing. For example you can send a pulse of light to a satellite and get it back, and then this can be translate
