Mission simulation to start on 31st of March 2009

On 31st of March 2 Europeans and 4 Russians are entering a simulation facility in Moscow. They will live and work inside the facility for 105 days. The six - strong -international crew will simulate a mission to Mars in order to prepare for future space exploration missions.
In the focus of the Mars500 study are psychological and physiological questions regarding long term consignment : how will the crew coop with stress ? How does certain nutrition affect the physical fitness ?
ESA is conducting Mars500 together with the Russian Institute of Biomedical Problems.
This ESA TV feed features pictures of the facility and statements of ESA management and European participants.
